I do hope the Duke and duchess carry out some public engagements this week. We are in the second half of January. The kids have been back at school for some time now. I know William carried out an investiture last week, but they would do well to get out a bit soon. will avoid any criticism of them having extended holidays.

With omicron, I'm sure things are a bit tricky right now. We never hear about events that were in the works and then canceled or delayed because of health concerns.

Excellent point BriarRose and it's important to acknowledge how the absence of one or more people associated with an in-person or even virtual event can derail everything. I believe that this has occurred more frequently in the recent weeks since Omicron is highly contagious.

Quite happy for them to do engagements via a video link.

Nice to see them out and about together. They seemed to have a fun round table discussion.

It was weird seeing them shaking hands maskless. Not a very safe thing to do.

Agree with you on all fronts! ?

Interesting as they are masked indoors for part of the visit but not for other activities. Perhaps it has to do with the indoor distancing allowances. Would one of our British posters please share what are the current guidelines on masking for the UK?

Glad that the couple are together today visiting her patronage which she took on in 2019.

t’s lovely to be back at the @FoundlingMuseum
and see how they’re continuing to help to transform the lives of young people, but also hear some of the difficulties that care leavers have faced over the years including during the pandemic.

The masks were probably only taken off for thr [round!] table discussion, but were on for the rest of the time.

Just today the government has announced newer, less stringent rules. Details in the link below

I finally got around to watching the video. Even the couple were confused as to what to do. When greeting the organizers outside you can here Catherine say something along the lines "I'm not sure if we leave our masks on..."
The couple walked inside the round table discussion with their masks and removed them when they noted the majority of people inside had them off. They shook hands with some people and elbow bumped other.
All very confusing. Nevertheless it was a fun and interactive visit. I love the drawing exercise they did.

I *personally* don't agree with the relaxed rules. I think it will just propel the rates back up again.

The one good thing is that we will get to see more fun and interactive visits like these!

Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are this afternoon visiting the hospital in Chatburn Road to hear about staff's incredible contributions caring for patients throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. In their role as Joint Royal Patrons for independent charity NHS Charities Together, they will also hear how support from the hospital charity ELHT&Me, using a grant from NHS Charities Together, helped to support exhausted colleagues at the Trust, including funding a new therapy puppy who will be introduced and named during the visit.

OOooh look! A therapy puppy! I love it. The benefits of a four legged furbaby is very much overlooked and very much underrated. As the Cambridge family seems to be complete with a doggo, I'll bet that they both were 100% behind the idea. :D

William and Catherine cuddled a puppy in Lancashire.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will celebrate St David’s Day on 1 March by visiting Abergavenny and Blaenavon in Wales.

The focus will be to highlight about the importance of agriculture to rural populations and how community organisations are providing support to young people.

Some proposed events:

> Visit Pant Farm near Abergavenny, a goat farm that has been providing milk to a local cheese producer for nearly 20 years. William and Kate will be given a tour by farmers Gary and Jess Yeomans and hear about the challenges and opportunities faced by the sector.

> Visit Abergavenny Market to see first-hand how important local suppliers are to rural communities and to mark St David’s Day.

> The Duke and Duchess will also visit Blaenavon Hwb, a community-focused youth centre that helps to support 600 young people by providing a space for alternative education and support.

Wonderful to see a visit to Wales on St David's Day :previous:

The Cambridges as respective Patrons for Rugby Football Union (England) and Welsh Rugby Union will be at the upcoming Six Nation's Match.

That should be fun knowing how competitive they get. It's a big match in our family too.

They've got a fair few engagements announced for the next few weeks.

Add in the rumoured trip to the Caribbean, and I think W&C have a very full March coming up.

And here's a video from earlier today :previous:

:previous: To be honest I wasn't expecting people to cheer when the family arrived and expected just a little applause, but it seems like everyone was in a good mood before the match.

Why did you not expect people to cheer or applaud,?

The duke & duchess were singing the Welsh national anthem Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau / Land of My Fathers. In a language of course that predates the use of English on this island by centuries. Even us English have to admit that it's probably the best national anthem in the world.?

It is of course frustrating that at these inter British sporting fixtures poor old England does not have its own national song.

Did you see George singing God Save the Queen.

They are much liked it has to be said.

Scotland-England fixtures are usually a little more tense.;)
