    Future York Weddings

Princess Alexandra was the daughter of a fourth son of a monarch; Beatrice and Eugenie are the daughters of the second son of a monarch. So if her husband was offered an earldom, wouldn't it make sense for theirs to be offered too? Why would the husbands turn the offer of an earldom down? What...

    Future York Weddings

Earldoms for Eugenie/Beatrice husbands? Today I was reading about how the Queen usually offers earldoms to untitled men marrying royal princesses. I'm wondering if the offer will be extended to Eugenie and Beatrice's husbands in due time? And on a side note, I'm wondering why does the offer...

    Marriages Between British Royal Cousins

Anne Boleyn's mother, Elizabeth Howard (Henry 8's rumoured lover) was the aunt of his fifth wife, Catherine Howard. All of Henry VIII's wives were cousins, without exception, as were a number of his mistresses (Lady Mary Boleyn was Anne's sister and Catherine's cousin, Madge Shelton was a...

    LHBTQ+ Royalty

Hmm...Don't know if I should even be posting in this thread still, but... Louis Ferdinand was a lover of Prince George of Kent, if I recall correctly. Which Romanovs? And who's Eitle Friedrich?

Henry III (1207-1272) and Eleanor of Provence (1223-1291)

She was the second eldest daughter of Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Provence and Forcalquier, and Beatrice of Savoy. Her eldest sister Marguerite married Louis IX of France, the third one Sanchia married Richard, Earl of Cornwall (Henry III's brother) and the youngest Beatrice married King...

Also, maybe it would be of interest to do a simplistic family tree linking some of the names, most of them have some Bourbon and/or BRF ancestors in common :D

Ancient Egyptian Dynasties to the Ptolemies of Egypt & Palestine

She probably didn't have much to do with them, as far as I know most royal and noble ladies from Ancient times to recently (ie, last century) had little to do with the actual day-to-day care and education of their children. Tutors, nannies, governesses, and slaves did most of the parenting ;)

    LHBTQ+ Royalty

OK, so I started reading through this thread but its too huge and the debates over whether homosexuality is genetic or not, gay sheep, the Duchess of Windsor being HRH or not, and so on...kinda tiresome. Maybe we can begin compiling a "definitive" list? King William II of England (rumoured)...

    Claims to the Portuguese Throne

According to the biography of Catherina de Medici by Leonie Frieda, her claim to the Portuguese throne was through her mother, who was a descendent from king Affonso III and Matilda countess of Boulogne a daughter of Renaud Count de Dammartin and Ides of Lorraine, countess of Boulogne, in the...

Preferred Wives For William and Harry

Princess Michael is one of my favourite royals. First and foremost, because she has a long and distinguished pedigree, which is nevertheless largely unrelated to the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha/Oldenburg lines which dominate most of the royal houses today. Which of itself sets her apart from most...

Ancient Egyptian Dynasties to the Ptolemies of Egypt & Palestine

Also from what I can tell, Ptolemy I and his descendants were the only surviving heirs of Alexander the Great. Alexander's own son was put to death, as was his brother Philip and sisters Cynane, Thessalonike and Cleopatra. Cynane married her cousin Amyntas and had one daughter, Adea/...

Ancient Egyptian Dynasties to the Ptolemies of Egypt & Palestine

    - Obviously I have no idea if the family tree I posted is true or not, and would welcome anyone who can prove or disprove it. Either way I find it highly interesting ! - Alexander the Great initially presented himself as a demi-God, the son of Zeus with a mortal woman . In typical Greek...

Henry II (1133-1189) and Eleanor of Aquitaine (1122-1204)

Shakhim, I don't quite understand your post...what do you mean? -------------------------------------------------------------- From "Eleanor of Aquitaine, By the Wrath of God, Queen of England" by Alison Weir; from the end of page 53 to the start of page 55. Suger was still concerned about...

    Marriages Between British Royal Cousins

Earlier in Henry's reign, there were rumours that he had an affair with Lady Elizabeth Howard,...mother of his future mistress Lady Mary Boleyn and wife Lady Anne Boleyn. His and Anne's enemies spread these rumours later on, well into Queen Elizabeth's reign,...not first cousin marriage but...
