Queen Juana 'La Loca' of Castile and Duke Philip 'The Handsome' of Burgundy

And the queen lived such a long life for those days and lived into her 75th year.
 
Queen Juana's life was far from easy, apparently she suffered a lot. She did have a very long life for that time.
 
The sepulcher of Don Felipe and Queen Juana, is a funerary monument of Renaissance style, made in 1518 - 1519 by the sculptor Bartolomé Ordoñez for the burial of Felipe I the Beautiful and his wife Juana de Castilla. It is located in the Royal Chapel of Granada, next to the sarcophagus of the Catholic Monarchs by Domenico Fancelli.

Domenico Fancelli was also commissioned to design the tombs of Don Juan de Aragón, Prince of Asturias at Santo Tomás in Ávila and later that of Cardinal Cisneros and were both completed after his death in 1519.
 
Queen Joanna of Castile's Spanish household was being replaced by Flemish women who spied on her for her husband Philip.
It is sad when the mistress cannon trust the servants. ????
 
Queen Juana la loca died on Good Friday, 12 April 1555, at the age of 75 in the Royal Palace at Tordesillas.


In July 1506, Juana of Castile and Philip of Austria go to the Castilian Cortes to be sworn as the new monarchs.

If I can find the movie about with full English subtitles I will have a look.

I found a book someone gave me yonks ago, called That Other Juana, a historical fiction work about Joanna. I'm not wild about the writing style but it is interesting enough for me to keep reading. I didn't realise that her husband Philip's grandfather Charles was married to Margaret of York.

Even as Dowager Duchess,Margaret was a very powerful figure in European politics up until her death!
