Interesting, the Order of the Elephant was created by King Christian V in 1693 and today, 330 years later, Prince Christian was awarded Knight
Is anyone familiar with the tradition regarding the Danish RFO(royal family orders)? I know QMII wears her fathers, CPM and PM their M-i-l's, but Princess Benedickte only wears one(I can't tell if its her fathers or sister). Will we see Mary wearing QMII's and her husbands?
What has the Order of the Dannebrog to with King Constantine's death?
Since Prince Henrik and King Constantine has died, there are two vacant places reserved for Grand Commanders. With Daisy abdicating and the future King Frederik X to becoming the grand master of the Danish Orders, they should appoint the future Queen Mary and Crown Prince Christian Grand Commanders of the Order of Dannebrog in connection to his accession.

It’s likely that Frederik will appoint his wife and his heir, when the accession has happened.
QMII probably didn’t made any new appointments as she thoght Frederik should be the one doing it.
After all, the Order of the Elephant is the senior order, so new royal appointments to the Order of Dannebrog can wait.
I wonder if and when we will see the now Queen Margrethe's new private monogram?
That have always been the way they’re done it in Denmark, that they only wear the miniature portrait of the monarch who gave it to them. The only exception is Mary as she has to change to her husbands. The Queen is wearing the RFO of King Frederik X in the new Official Portrait but only wears the current one.
Do they return the previous RFO of Queen Margrethe II?
Looks wonderful! I did not realize the frame was 200 years old!! And yes, bo reason for a new family order to not be done and available for wear pretty quickly. The diamond frame look beautiful on Queen Mary. Is the image of King Frederik a photo or is it painted?close up
"The frame, in which the portrait sits, was taken over by Queen Mary from Queen Margrethe, who herself wore it with a picture of her father, King Frederik 9.
..
The diamond-studded frame is 200 years old and was originally created for Amélie of Leuchtenberg, who later became Empress of Brazil. The empress never had children herself and therefore it was inherited by her sister Queen Josefina, who later gave it to her granddaughter Lovisa, who later became queen of Denmark.
Margrethe was given the precious frame by her mother Queen Ingrid and has now passed it on to her daughter-in-law."
Spottede du detaljen? Det er første gang, at dronning Mary gør dette
De nye gallaportrætter af kong Frederik og dronning Mary afslørede en særlig detalje.www.billedbladet.dk
I'm glad she wears it on the official portraits, no reason for it not to be ready after a few months.

I believe it's a miniature portrait, so it was painted. He looks good, even in miniature.

The next person who will be given Frederik’s miniature portrait is likely Isabella next year, when she turns 18.
Margrethe will most likely continue to wear her fathers but change to the diamond frame without a crown, that Queen Ingrid wore between 1972-2000.
I would hope so. It is more than way overdue tbh. And it would be great if in honor of their 20th anniversary she received it.I was curious about something -- will Frederik award Mary the Order of the Dannebrog? There are two Grand Commander slots open, as apparently there are never more than eight at a time. It would give her some more bling to wear at gala events!
We all are expecting!! And Frederik should award his son Christian too!I would hope so. It is more than way overdue tbh. And it would be great if in honor of their 20th anniversary she received it.
According to Royal Historian Trond Norén Isaksen it is not given that Queen Mary will be made a Grand Commander of the Order of Dannebrog anytime soon as there is no precedent of appointing anyone in connection with accessions…I was curious about something -- will Frederik award Mary the Order of the Dannebrog? Well it happened today. Queen Mary was appointed Grand Commander on the occasion of King Frederik's 56th birthday, 4 months after his ascension to the throne. The Queen received the order that had belonged to Prince Henrik. It was refurbished and the monogram changed to that of King Frederik X. Queen Ingrid was appointed on King Frederik IX’s 60:th birthday in 1959, 12 years after his accession… And Queen Margrethe II appointed Prince Henrik on her birthday in 1973, 15 months after her accession, and her 2:nd birthday as monarch.
We will simply have to wait and see when it happens.
He will definitely be a recipient of the Grand Cross Commander insignia of the Order of Dannebrog… Though i wonder if he will get the insignia that belonged to the late King Constantine ? Or maybe Margrethe’s insignia after she passes…I think that Crown Prince Christian is the next
