I always thought that the chill between the Queen and Thatcher had most all to do with lifestyles. Thatcher did not enjoy Balmoral at all. I always assumed the lack of comfortable heat, fustiness and isolation were her sticking points. JMO from things I have read over the years.

All of this and the hair is great on her. I actually think the dress is completely in her wheelhouse. It's not so much a recognizable Jenny Packham. JMO

I love this. And she certainly has the ankles for a lace up.

I think it also likely that the bride gets to have asks for and against. As in wants "something smaller," "something simple," "all white stones," "linear rather than floral," "Pearls if possible," or along those lines.

I like both of the looks. And I love that their tastes are obviously diverging and that it is being allowed.

I loved Bea's gown. And JMO but I think it was intended to look like the original dress - very vintage. If you look at the olde photos, the bottom piece was there originally. And I thought it fit wonderfully. I think she may not have been fully shoulders back in every photo - but that dress...

In the US some would call this a ditzy print and others a Liberty Print. Are those terms common elsewhere. In addition to the common "floral."

I don't buy this. One is summoned to the Queen - the Queen does not come to you because you are spatting.

I'd guess the somber has to do with ongoing Covid, and all the recent deaths. And those children are nonplussed with the bonfire (off topic). ;)

I don't want us to get off on other royals but... I just think everyone, not least royals tends to see themselves positively and portray themselves that way to others. It's rare that I have a conversation with anyone that they admit they acted an entitled ass a bit, that their gifts outweigh...

I continue to be astonished at just how little I care about them these days. I wish them well, but they are just not that interesting. At some point it became difficult to identify with all the things that made them unhappy. I have my own struggles, and none of them are very interesting...
