The royal court about the second day
Victoria and Haakon launched their joint program at the UN headquarters in Nairobi.
During the morning, they spoke with local employees at the UN office and participated in the launch of a report on plastic pollution in Kenya.
Kitengela waste facility
In the afternoon, Victoria and Haakon visited the Kitengela waste disposal facility outside Nairobi. UNDP is working there with local organizations to reduce plastic pollution. They talked to the founders behind an app created by UNDP that serves as a tool for waste management as well as a source of information on recycling and waste management. They also talked to garbage collectors who make a living by collecting, sorting and recycling plastic waste. The garbage collectors are part of an informal sector that has emerged in the absence of public systems for waste management.
Evening reception
In the evening, Victoria and Haakon attended UNDP's reception. International development partners to UNDP, UN employees in Kenya and representatives from the private sector, organizations and civil society were invited to the reception.

Victoria and Haakon had lunch by the Indian Ocean.
Lunch was taken at one of Africa's most beautiful beaches, with turquoise blue sea and white sand, and with blazing sun over the beach restaurant.
Victoria and Haakon each received a sun hat as a present.
Today's assignment focused on the local project that protects and preserves the threatened mangrove.

The court about the third day:
On November 23, Victoria and Haakon visited the district of Kwale in southern Kenya. There they were received by Governor Fatuma Achani. They received information about how local authorities together with UNDP work to develop local democracy, as well as the importance of sustainable development.
They also visited a mangrove forest and the Mikoko Pamoja (mangrove together) project, which aims to preserve and replant mangrove forests. Representatives from UNDP and local employees talked about the project and the positive side effects it brought in the form of a better environment, conditions for local fishermen and job opportunities in ecotourism.
The day ended with an official dinner organized by UNDP.

The royal court about the fourth day 23rd November:
Victoria began the day with a breakfast meeting together with Inger Andersen, CEO of the UN Environment Program UNEP.
In the morning, Victoria and Haakon had a bilateral meeting with Kenya's Vice President Rigathi Gachagua.
Then they attended a business seminar arranged by Business Sweden and Innnovation Norge. Victoria gave a speech. Victoria and Haakon then visited the companies' stands and had the opportunity to talk with company managers. The seminar ended with a round table discussion on the theme "Digital and innovative Africa".
Then Victoria and Haakon inaugurated the new joint office for Business Sweden and Innovation Norway in the One Africa Place building. They got a tour of the premises and met staff from the two organizations who will work there.
Victoria visited Scania together with Minister for Development and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell. Victoria attended official inauguration of Scania East Africa.
At the Health Care Global (HCG) Cancer Center at MP Shah hospital, Victoria inaugurated a new radiation cannon for the treatment of cancer tumors and received a demonstration of the new technology.
In the evening, Victoria and Haakon attended a reception at the Swedish ambassador's residence, around 300 company representatives attended the reception.
About the last day:
Today Victoria visited the Lewa nature reserve in northern Kenya. The area is currently hit by the worst drought in 40 years, which affects residents, communities and wildlife. Victoria met representatives from the Northern Rangelands Trust, which receives support from the Swedish government to meet the challenges that the drought brings.
In the afternoon Victoria visited the school activities run by the Gundua Foundation in Lewa. She inaugurated a new dormitory for schoolgirls.

Thirteen years ago, in November 2009, I had the pleasure of officially inaugurating Gundua Secondary School.
Today, we celebrate a new milestone in the history of Gundua: the new and much anticipated Dormitory for girls.
Dear students! When you are in school and you need to learn a lot, it helps to have fun. So today, I brought with me a small gift from Sweden: some floorballs and floorball sticks, some soccer balls and also my son Prince Oscar’s beloved soccer goal. He very much wants you to have it.
Prince Oscar is six years old. His older sister, Princess Estelle, is ten. All their lives, they have heard me talk about this school, thousands of miles away from Sweden, and about its outstanding students. When I left Stockholm, I promised my children to tell you, that they are very much looking forward to coming here themselves one day.

Victoria should have attended today's presentation of the Nobel Laureates, but she didn't and her attendance at the inauguration of Stockholm City Mission's meeting place tomorrow, has been cancelled.
- The Crown Princess has a slight cold. We take it one day at a time. So the Crown Princess is at home today - out of respect for others, she does the activity with the City Mission on another day, says Margareta Thorgren.
What about the Nobel?
- She definitely plans to go to the Nobel party. She only has a mild cold.
Is someone else in the family sick?
- No. Prince Daniel and the children are doing well.
Victoria should have opened the Stockholm City Mission's new meeting place at Mariatorget on Södermalm, the event that cannot be postponed to the future.
Fanny Siltberg, press secretary of the Stockholm City Mission, says that the opening will be carried out as planned, but without Victoria. Siltberg says that it is not clear yet of there will be another occasion at the meeting place where Victoria could attend.

Victoria visited today the Swedish Defense Research Agency FOI, to get information about security-related research conducted by the institute.
Representatives from the institute gave, among other things, updated information about Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the military significance of drones and the ongoing research into space from a military and security policy perspective.

Thanks again, Lady Finn, for posting those videos. I was never much involved with Victoria, but that visit to Kenya was so eye opening for me about who she is.
She comes across as a very natural and highly engaged person , and at the same time seems to be really enjoying her visit in Kenya. If I compare that with other visits of royals to African countries, she is acting so differently. You just have the feeling that she is into it with all her heart. She has become my favourite royal

I was in the snowfall and after a few kilometers I was allowed to stop, there was a skier who was on my heels, I turn around and it is Crown Princess Victoria who is skiing and a little after the security police. Hello, what a paradise, she says, we talk a little about the magical winter landscape. Which is so beautiful. Then we move on, the next small stop and conversation is about the white fine ptarmigans that rush forward, Victoria stops, Säpo stops and we enjoy a while. It is magically beautiful in the winter landscape, quiet and still. And I silently think to myself, well, I'm not going to take any pictures with my mobile phone! I'm on free time, Victoria is free. It must stay here as a memory, a nice pleasant memory in the ski track. Simply a nice picture in my memory!"

Victoria attended today at Rosersberg Palace a seminar arranged by the Folke Bernadotte Academy. On arrival she was greeted by Director General Per Olsson Fridh and Daniel Shapiro, Founder and Director, Harvard International Negotiation Program.
The Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) is the Swedish government agency for peace, security and development. FBA supports international peace operations and international development cooperation. The agency conducts training, research and method development in order to strengthen peacebuilding and statebuilding in conflict and post-conflict countries.

Amina J. Mohammed informed about the SDG Summit, the high-level meeting that will take place in September 2023 in connection with the opening of the UN General Assembly. It brings together heads of state and ministers from around the world for conversations about sustainability and effective multilateral cooperation.

Victoria attended today the meeting of the Crown Princess Margareta's Memorial Fund. Victoria is the chairman of the Fund. Princess Christina was her predecessor, she was the chairman of the Fund for 45 years.
 
Victoria met today at the Royal Palace Gabriel Wikström, national coordinator for Agenda 2030 since 2020. A particular focus in his work is on the perspective and participation of children and young people, above all those in a particularly vulnerable situation.
Victoria got an update on the work with Agenda 2030.

Victoria met today at the Royal Palace Jakob Hedenskog and Stefan Ingvarsson from the Swedish Institute of International Affairs.
Both are analysts at Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies (SCEEUS) at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs.
 
Victoria participated today in a meeting with staff who are currently attending the diplomatic, foreign administration or assistant program at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The meeting was arranged in the Bernadotte library.
Victoria, who herself attended the diplomatic program in 2006–2007, began the meeting by welcoming all participants to the Royal Palace. She spoke, among other things, about the importance of the strong collaboration between the royal court and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, which goes back a long way. The course participants also had the opportunity to make questions to Victoria.

Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess of Sweden visits Georgia
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden will visit Georgia on 29-30 March 2023. The Crown Princess will be hosted by the President of Georgia and by the EU Monitoring Mission. The visit forms part of the programme of Sweden’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the first half of 2023. One of the priorities for Sweden’s EU Presidency is to underscore the importance of EU Civilian Crisis Management and to reinforce the European Union’s civilian CSDP (Common Security and Defence Policy) missions. The EUMM in Georgia is a prime example of how EU civilian CSDP missions can help to provide stability, promote security, and build confidence in the countries where they are active. By visiting Georgia, The Crown Princess also wishes to highlight the long-standing friendship and partnership between our countries and peoples.

The EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) was honoured to receive Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden over the past two days.
"It was a great privilege to host Crown Princess Victoria during her visit to Georgia," said EUMM Head of Mission Dimitrios Karabalis. "Her presence highlights the significance of our work and the importance of the EUs civilian crisis management missions. The EUMM is dedicated to promoting security and stability in Georgia, and we highly appreciate Crown Princess Victoria's interest in our activities."
On 29 March, Crown Princess Victoria received a briefing about EUMM’s mandate and activities at the Mission’s Headquarters in Tbilisi. On 30 March, the Mission hosted her on a visit to the South Ossetian Administrative Boundary Line. In Khurvaleti she was able to witness first-hand how the ABL and ‘borderisation’ features impact the lives and human rights of the conflict-affected communities. Her Royal Highness also visited the local school, and met with teachers and children.
Finally, at the Tserovani settlement for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), she met with local women entrepreneurs at the NGO Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Hub. They discussed the NGO’s activities and the challenges that internally displaced persons face in their daily lives.

On the occasion of the Swedish presidency of the Council of the European Union, Victoria visited Georgia and the EU's civilian crisis management mission EUMM Georgia.
On March 29, Victoria got to know the capital during a city walk in Tbilisi, during which she visited Tbilisi's old town, the Metekhi Church and the Sulfur baths found in the city, among other things.
Ulrik Tideström, Sweden's ambassador to Georgia, then hosted a lunch at the Swedish residence, during which Victoria received in-depth information about the European Union's involvement in the country. Among the guests were EU ambassador Paweł Herczyński and EUMM's operations manager Ambassador Dimitrios Karabalis.
In the afternoon Victoria visited the EUMM's headquarters and received information about the EU's common security and defense policy and about EUMM Georgia.
Then Victoria met employees of the Swedish embassy in connection with a visit to the embassy's office.
During the evening, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili hosted a dinner at the Orbeliani Palace. The theme of the dinner was "women, peace and security".

And of course, I have heard about the great hospitality of the people of Georgia.
Madam President, I am delighted to finally visit your beautiful country. Actually, people warned me before going. They said: If you go to Georgia, you will always want to go back!"

The focus was on the EUMM's civilian crisis management effort, starting in Gori.
The EU's civilian crisis management is a Swedish profile issue and priority during the Swedish EU presidency in spring 2023. The purpose of the visit to Georgia is to shed light on the EU's civilian crisis management efforts and the work being carried out.
Victoria began Thursday by visiting EUMM's field office in Gori. She received information about the field office's duties and assignments. Then she made a field visit to the dividing line together with representatives from the EUMM. She also visited the school in the village of Khurvaleti and met students and staff.
During a lunch Victoria met the Swedes who serve at the EUMM in Georgia. The Folke Bernadotte Academy, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency and the Swedish Police currently have staff seconded to the operation.
After lunch Victoria met female entrepreneurs in the Tserovani IDP settlement, a settlement for internally displaced persons. She received information about the NGO "Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Hub" and how they work to support female entrepreneurs.
To conclude the visit, Victoria visited the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta, Georgia's oldest city, for a guided tour with information about the cathedral's history.

Victoria had today a digital study visit together with organization We Effect.
She was able to take part in We Effect's global work and the initiatives in Zimbabwe, where the organization focuses on gender equality and agriculture.
Victoria spoke with employees at the head office as well as with participants in the project in Chiundura, Zimbabwe.
Chiundura Value Center is run by Women and Land Zimbabwe with a focus on gender equality, women's empowerment, land rights, natural resource management and climate impact.

Today, the Crown Princess will visit We Effect's operations in Zimbabwe. There, the Crown Princess will visit a women's cooperative that works with agriculture and food production. The purpose of the Crown Princess's visit is to learn more about how Sweden contributes to climate adaptation and increased food production in developing countries through our aid.
The journey will be done digitally, via a live stream. It is an innovative concept developed by We Effect to enable more visits outside of its business without the enormous resources and emissions that physical travel requires. For 45 minutes, the Crown Princess will meet women from an agricultural cooperative that uses and trains new methods of cultivation in a drier climate. It is an important part of We Effect's work to help farmers adapt their farms to a warmer climate. The Crown Princess will also get to see how the women refine their raw materials into food products.
Anna Tibblin, Secretary General of We Effect: The idea of digital travel was born out of necessity during the pandemic, but is just as relevant today. Thanks to this technology, the Crown Princess will be able to visit our operations and speak directly with our partners on site, despite her very full calendar. It is incredibly valuable.
