Memoration of 100th anniversary of Grand Duke Adolph

"Weilburg has captured our hearts for a long time"

Grand Ducal couple returns to the roots of Luxembourg's dynasty

After the official visits of GD Jean and Josephine-Charlotte in 1977 for a state visit such as in 1990 for the 100th anniversary of the dynasty, the Grand Ducal couple were on Friday in Hessian Weilburg an der Lahn.

Pictures:
1) Momento in the Royal crypt of the castle churchin front of the sarcophagus of Grand Duke Adolph. Priest H. Barkowski (right) and Georges Villermoz made short prayers
2) Grand Duke Henri and Captain marching in front of the civil guards and the silhouette of Weilburg with its symbol, the castle tower
3) In remambrance of the celebrations the Grand Duke and the municipal authorities ("Stadtmagistrat" in German) planted a lime (tree) in front of the city gate
4) In Weilburg's museum Luxembourg's Grand Duke inaugurated an exhibition with the title "Adolph, Grand Duke of Luxembourg and Duke of Nassau"
5) "Life in the castle" was called the walk through former residence castle Weilburg, and GD Henri learnt alot of details of the life of his ancestors from early 19th century
6) Greeting of the Grand Ducal couple in front of the city gate, former main gate of Weilburg town, from mayor Hans-Peter Schick with wife and Luxembourg's minister of culture François Biltgen
7) The visit of the castle turned into time journey in the courteous world
8) the guest of honor going through the markt place to the Evangelian castle church of Weilburg

Text and pics (scanned!) from Luxemburger Wort.:)

I hope you enjoy these beautiful pics and please look also in Guillaume's thread with details about his visit. I want to excuse the grammatical errors I made while doing this translation but unfortuately some German terms are hard to translate in English.;)

Wow! They sure are busy.

Henri strikes to me as an extremely dutifull person. In all the literally thousands of pictures and newsclips and stuff I have seen him, he always keeps a perfect appearance. I wonder if he ever has days he really, really wouldn't want to get up and go to work and they have to lure him out of it with hot cocoa and gingerbread bisquits or something... :p

Yes, he does seem perfect. But I think everyone has their off days.

Hello!

Does anyone know if Henri attended the lighting of the Olympic fire in Athens yesterday?

both events had various members of paris society and other celebrities/royals in attendance. this event was a charity function. the second event (pics of them in less formal wear) was an anniversary celebration for chaumet, which is a famous jewlery house.

In the page:http://www.fotobank.com, is many pictures, of the vacations of summer 2003 of the family, and the very affectionate Duchess with the Duke, haven a fantastic couple, me one doesn't eat they put on the pictures here.

Perhaps Henri and MT will be present at Prince Emmanuel of Belgium's baptism, seeing as their son is going to be the baby's godfather.

I would expect to see new pics of the family after saturday since Guillaume is going to be the God Father and he has to be present at the baptism (if I remember correctly). And I know I'd want to be there if my son was becoming a god father.

Not necessarily. Guillaume is the Hereditary Grand Duke and is old enough to carry out duties on his own. He went to Monaco by himself and he can go to Belgium by himself.

Other royals have become godparents and their parents did not accompany them to the baptism.

That's true, Genevieve, but Henri is Philippe's cousin, which is why I mentioned that.
Guillaume is certainly old enough to go by himself.

I know that he's old enough to go by himself. But I think this is his first time becoming a god parent and if I was his parents I'd want to be there to see it. It'd be kind of like a proud parent moment. You're son is grown up and someone else trusts him enough that they're entrusting their kid to him when they're gone. Plus with the close bonds between the 2 countries I would think they'd be there with guillaume.

i agree. however, this isn't guillaume's first godchild. see the hgd guillaume thread- i believe he's his brother sebastien's godfather and his cousin paul-louis' too.
