Her pregnancy comes at a time personally, when I needed to hear such stuff. I’m the same age as the hereditary grand duchess and I’ve been trying for years to have a baby, and this announcement just gives me so much hope.

I did wonder about the caftans and large jacket/coats... I'm puzzled reading that there was the negativity about London and the media focusing on Felix and Amalia. I don't remember too much criticism about the year in London and the latter... well, it's understandable as Felix and Amalia were next in line for a long time. I suspect Felix and Claire, besides being happy for the HGD couple, are probably relieved they will not have to change their life plans.

Even though the mainstream press in Luxembourg is very respectful of the privacy of the GD family, the tabloids are just brutal. I have seen a few of the headlines....they would make the Daily Fail look sober.

Also the German publication BUNTE has been borderline cruel regarding speculation about Stephanie's lack of children/fertility.

This news will shut them up. At least for awhile.

Glad to hear that Guillaume and Stephanie have moved into Fischbach, the old home of the late GD Jean, in anticipation of their baby's arrival.

If Stéphanie really underwent some kind of fertility treatment, then the probability of twins is significantly higher, but I wouldn't speculate since we obviously don't know the circumstances of her pregnancy.

Yep, I agree. It would have meant for Amalia a different path, now they can relax.

They were married in October of 2012, so it's been seven years between wedding and first pregnancy? Not unheard of to go seven years before becoming pregnant with the first child, especially with the pressure there was on them to have a child. Maybe they relaxed enough living in London and away from the pressure that they were able to conceive naturally. Or maybe they did avail themselves of better fertility specialists. Whatever the reason, I'm delighted for them, and hope all goes well.

I think they probably know as she would have had a test to check for birth defects and during this test they can tell you the sex.

The announcement about Mary's pregnancy was clearly speaking about twins.

For Charlene the announcement was very carefully worded as "The birth is expected for the end of the year" and not "The baby is expected for the end of this year".
It led to speculation and Charlene's father let the cat out of the bag soon after...

I don't really follow Luxembourg royalty but took a liking to Stephanie because of her gorgeous wedding dress (and because we share a first name!) I was thrilled to hear that they are expecting, of course I don't know them at all but they seem like down-to-earth, normal people. They both looked and sounded so happy in their engagement this evening. It is a very special thing to make a child with the person you love, I'm delighted that they are sharing this experience.

The couple moved to London in the summer of 2018. They were set to be there for a year (not sure when they officially returned). He was studying at the royal college of defense, and she took some extra studies at Sotheby's to help with some of her patronages.


I am so thrilled for the couple. I have been hoping for such news

Glad another of my 2019 predictions came true. Was starting to think none of the remaining would be fulfilled.

Such a wonderful time for both families. Nice they have moved into Jean's old home in preparation for the birth as well. Happy news to end a sad year.

I think Moonmaiden23 was quoting the Hereditary Grand Duchess's comment from today, in the above wort.lu article. In the same article, the Hereditary Grand Duke is quoted as saying that they had "already waited a long time for this moment".

It sounds as if they were anticipating the birth when they returned to move into a larger family home in Luxembourg.
