King Carl Gustaf participated yesterday digitally in ICC Sweden's (International Chamber of Commerce Sweden) annual meeting.

King Carl Gustaf attended today a board meeting of H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf’s Foundation for Young Leadership (Ungt Ledarskap).
 
The Main Chapter of The Swedish Orders was held with the King as the Chairman at the Royal Palace. These chapters are held once a year under the leadership of the King, who is the Grand Master of the Order of the Seraphim, the Order of the Sword, the Order of the Polar Star and the Order of Vasa.
The new knights and members appointed within the Order of Seraphim were presented at the meeting. The number of deceased holders of the four Swedish orders (awarded before 1975) was also reported.

The King inaugurated today the digital spring exhibition "The Thinking Hand" with a speech. The exhibition is a recurring scholarship competition for young artists.
The Thinking Hand is a competition for young artists, born in 1985 at the earliest, using visual design in art, architecture, fashion, design, illustration, game development or other related fields.
Ten competition participants are nominated by a selection committee appointed by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. A jury then selects three scholarship recipients who are awarded SEK 100,000 each at a ceremony at the Royal Palace.

King Carl Gustaf delivered the Vega Medal to professor Thomas Hylland Eriksen from Oslo University.
The Vega Medal was instituted in 1880 by the Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography (SSAG), for which the King is the patron. According to the statutes, the medal goes to "people who have promoted geographical research in an excellent way".
Thomas Hylland Eriksen receives the award for his significant contribution to anthropological research and his central role as a mediator of anthropological perspectives in the public debate. Areas that played an important role in Hylland Eriksen's research are ethnicity, nationalism and cultural identity.

The king awarded Bernadotte scholarships
The Royal Academies instituted the so-called Bernadotte program on the occasion of the King's 70th birthday in 2016. At a ceremony in the Bernadotte Library, this year's scholarship recipients were presented.
The King is the patron of the academies and the first honorary member.

HM The King visits Germany and France with an IVA delegation
On 9-13 May takes place this year's Royal Technology Mission (RTM). RTM is a study trip for representatives from the Swedish business community, academia and the public sector that aims to exchange knowledge and network. The study trip this year goes to Germany and France. The journey is led by HM the King and IVA's president, Marcus Wallenberg, and the theme for this year's journey is energy and digitalisation.
The study visits during RTM 2022 include several different perspectives such as research and development, new technology for energy production, for industry and the public sector. In this way, this year's delegates will gain knowledge, insights and inspiration from the two largest economies in the EU, France and Germany.

King Carl Gustaf attended today a board meeting of H.M The King's Jubilee Fund for Youth in Sweden.

He attended today also the spring meeting of the Swedish Gastronomic Academy. The Gastronomic Academy is an academy with seventeen members, whose task is to safeguard and work for the development of gastronomy and the gastronomic culture in Sweden.
 
The King awarded today the Compass Rose scholarships to three young people who in their leadership showed courage, consideration and drive. At the ceremony, young leaders who had completed the Value-Based Leadership training also received diplomas from the King. The ceremony was arranged by the King's Foundation Young Leadership (Ungt Ledarskap) in the Bernadotte Library.

With energy and digitization as their theme, the King carried out a delegation trip to France and Germany together with the King on 9-13 May with the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.

Yesterday, on Sunday 15 May, the King visited the Swedish Armed Forces' exercise Våreld 22 at Revingehed. During the visit, the King was given an overview of the exercise and ongoing activities. The king visited a troop company, a tank company and a brigade staff.

King Carl XVI Gustaf visited today Såtenäs and Skaraborg Wing to see and hear more about the air defence exercise that is currently underway. He met several different functions and units that are part of the exercise. Among other things, he was shown how sea water from Lake Vänern is purified for drinking water. The King got to see a clarification of a Jas 39 Gripen, the Home Guard told about his role in the exercise and also served lunch.
The King visited also the flying exercises that were taking place on highway 44. There he was transported by a TP 84 Hercules which landed on the highway.

In 2020 the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded André de Roos, Professor of theoretical ecology at the UvA Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics, the prestigious King Carl XVI Gustaf´s Professorship in Environmental Science for 2021/22. Now, De Roos was granted the opportunity to present his work to the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf.
The lecture took place in the beautiful setting of the Bernadotte library at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

The King visits today Värmland to draw attention to the modern forestry industry.
The entire chain from plant to finished products in the form of wooden houses and packaging will be illuminated. The King will gain insight into how sustainable forestry is conducted. The delegation will visit Gruvön's sawmill's new factory for the production of cross-glued wood and Södra skolan in Grums, which is an example of this modern building technology. The King will also experience world-leading cardboard production at Kartongmaskin 8 at Skoghalls Bruk. The day ends with a roundtable discussion on the theme A common vision for the forest with representatives from business and nature conservation.
Governor Georg Andrén says that the king has a great interest in forest issues.
