They are the children of the Latvian President.

Queen Sofia and Iñaki Urdangarín were also at the Prince of Asturias Awards. The Queen was wonderful.
With that pink jacket that she already has worn the other day, she looks fantastic.
Here some pics:

Thanks for these pictures isabella.

The Queen and Letizia both look wonderful. I'm glad that Sofia attended the awards this year; I always looked forward to her attendance at Felipe's side in previous years. I'm glad she didn't decide to stay away because it was Letizia's first year.

Is there a reason that Inaki attended, too? I've never seen him at these awards in previous years. And why Inaki but no Cristina? (Not that I mind seeing the very handsome Inaki out and about with his in-laws, but just a curiosity.)

Alexandria, Iñaki also attended the ceremony last year because he is president of the jury of the Prince of Asturias Sport Award. Cristina didn't attend last year either and I believe that she has never gone to the ceremony.
And I suppose that apart of Queen Sofia, no member of the Royal Family has never attended to don't overshadow Prince Felipe, and this year for first time, Princess Letizia.
Not even the King has gone never, so...

I found some pics on abacapress but you have to be a registered member to view them. I'll try to find pics from someplace else and post them...

Why is it a private visit and what is she doing on this trip? Is it a holiday? Or did she become friendly with the First Lady when she and her husband paid a recent visit to Spain?

I believe it is a holiday but I could be wrong, I actually saw a picture in abacapress and the caption read a private five day visit to syria. But I can't look at any more pics as I am not a registered member, therefore I can't be sure.
I tried looking for any news regarding Queen Sofia's little trip to Syria but I had no luck. It is probably a small holiday in Syria to relax and see sites and therefore didn't publicize it, as it would mean a crowd of paparrazi following her around and disturbing her.

I believe it is a holiday.HM's calender of activities are cleared for those days.
