As part of the acts for the IV centenary of the "Quijote", KJC and QS inaugurated yesterday an exhibition at the Spanish Library in Madrid. The Duke of Lugo, Jaime de Marichalar, also attended the act, as he's the president of Winterthur Foundation, an organization that financed the catalogue.

It's a pity that Letizia didn't accompany KJC, seeing that she's a former journalist and all.

Spanish queen to lead Madrid 2012 delegation to key IOC meeting

The Associated Press
Updated: 1:14 p.m. ET April 15, 2005

Queen Sofia is expected to lead the Madrid delegation at the meeting in July to select the host city of the 2012 Olympics, the bid committee said Friday.

Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero already has agreed to travel to Singapore for the vote, and Madrid Mayor Alfredo Ruiz-Gallardon expressed "deep gratitude" for the royal family's support.

Madrid is competing against Paris, London, New York and Moscow. The winner will be selected by the International Olympic Committee on July 6.

The Spanish royal palace said Queen Sofia had offered to lead the delegation, but could not confirm that a final decision had been taken.

Earlier Friday, Mayor Ruiz-Gallardon appointed Real Madrid star Raul Gonzalez and five-time Tour de France champion Miguel Indurain among 13 bid "ambassadors."

Other athletes supporting Madrid include former tennis star Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, two-time world marathon champion Abel Anton and two-time Olympic handball bronze medalist Inaki Urdangarin, husband of Spain's Princess Elena.

Madrid, the only European city in the field which has never hosted the Olympics, says 70 percent of the proposed venues are already ready or in the process of being built.

Her agenda says she had no official dutty for that day, but perhaps she was preparing her trip to Chile, starting tomorrow April 18th, to attend the Summit on Microcredit for Latin America (which will gather more than 1000 experts from 600 institutions).
After a brief stay in Spain, to attend in Alcala de Henares the awards ceremony of the Cervantes Prize, Queen Sofía will travel to Mexico and Colombia, to participate in other three forums on microcredits.
