The celebrations of the national day traditionally begin the evening before at 4 p.m. with the ceremonial changing of the guard in front of the Grand Ducal Palace. The grand ducal couple will be visiting Lellingen in the municipality of Kiischpelt from 4:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The hereditary grand ducal couple will visit the city of Esch/Alzette from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
At 9:20 p.m. the torchlight procession of the clubs from the capital will start on Boulevard Roosevelt. This also includes the Aubade of military music in the presence of Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie, Prince Louis, Princess Alexandra and Prince Gabriel.
At 11 p.m., fireworks will be fired off the Pont Adolphe for the first time since 2019.
June 23rd:
The official ceremony in the Philharmonie in the presence of Princess Alexandra and Prince Gabriel, as well as MPs, members of the government, members of the Council of State, the judiciary, the Municipal Council of the City of Luxembourg and the diplomatic corps accredited in Luxembourg will start at 10 a.m. Citizens wishing to attend the ceremony in the Philharmonie can register on Friday 10 June 2022 from 9.00 a.m. via the website
www.gouvernement.lu. Since the number of places is limited, invitations will be issued in the order in which they are registered.
At 11 a.m. 21 cannon shots are fired from Fetschenhaff. At 11.30 a.m. the military parade will follow on the avenue de la Liberté, which will be inspected by the Grand Duke and the Hereditary Grand Duke. The Grand Duchess and the Hereditary Grand Duchess are present in the VIP gallery.
The Te Deum in the Cathedral begins at 4.30 p.m. in the presence of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, the Hereditary Grand Duke and Hereditary Grand Duchess, Prince Louis, Princess Alexandra and Prince Gabriel.
