Elisabeth Caroline-Mathilde Alexandrine Helena Olga Thyra Feodora Estrid Margarethe Désirée, Princess of Denmark, was born in Copenhagen on 8 May 1935. Princess Elisabeth is the daughter of Prince Knud (Heir Presumptive to the Throne) (1900 - 1976) and Princess Caroline-Mathilde (1912 - 1995). Princess Elisabeth is included in the order of succession to the Throne.
Christened and confirmed
Princess Elisabeth was christened in June 1935 and confirmed in Lyngby Church in May 1950.
Educational background
After secondary school leaving examination in 1952, Princess Elisabeth studied for one year at the Brillantmont International College in Lausanne, Switzerland. This was followed by a year at Suhr’s School of Home Economics. Subsequently, Princess Elisabeth attended Margrethe-Skolen (Scandinavian Academy of International Fashion and Design) from 1954 to 1956. Before being employed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Princess Elisabeth followed courses at the Tempo Type School in Copenhagen.
