The Swedish Royals and The World Childhood Foundation, Part 2 (June 2018 Onwards)

Since Madeleine has cancelled her trip to Sweden because Leonore has broken her arm and is awaiting surgery, king Carl Gustaf and crown princess Victoria attend with the Queen this evening at "A special Childhood evening at Gröna Lund".
Officiella program _ Kungahuset

250 specially invited guests, together with the royal couple and the crown princess, will enjoy the amusement park alone, and the idea was that Madeleine, who is taking over the organization after Queen Silvia, would also participate. But with only hours before the party, the princess has therefore cancelled.

We are happy about this initiative and want to encourage everyone to join us in the fight against child sexual abuse. Thanks to financial support from private individuals, philanthropists and companies, we can work to ensure that every child grows up free from sexual abuse. We look forward to welcoming invited guests, including the King and Queen and the Crown Princess, to Childhood's long-standing partner Gröna Lund.
This evening is made possible by generous partners, donors and sponsors and not least the people who commit to our issues. We are grateful that, thanks to this, we can direct collected funds to efforts that protect children.
However, we have received word that Princess Madeleine has canceled her trip to Sweden to participate in the evening. The reason is that Princess Leonore has tripped and broken her arm and is waiting for an operation.

The dress code is "summer fine/casual", and it was a relaxed group of guests who came walking along the Nybrokajen before glamming aboard the party boat - the old steamship m/s Östanå: Victoria's entire girl gang and all the Queen's girlfriends. While Madeleine's besties "Lussan", "Lovis" and "Katti" - Louise Gottlieb, Katarina von Horn and Lovisa de Geer - were hostesses, dressed in matching white.
At restaurant Tyrol at Gröna Lund star chef Jonas Svensson is responsible for the menu: Lemon-blanched asparagus with roe, grilled veal trecôte with primrose salad and Peach Melba with raspberry and poppy seed cake. And between courses there are surprises and lotteries.

The World Childhood Foundation published yesterday an article and photos about the event on 10th May.
A magical evening at Gröna Lund
Childhood is based on partnerships, collaborations and networks. With playfulness at the center at Gröna Lund, we witnessed a gathering of forces on Wednesday that strengthens our work to protect vulnerable children and families. Up until now a whopping 4.7 million has been raised as a result of the evening but it doesn't look like it will stop there. Every penny makes a difference to our work in preventing sexual abuse of children. This would not have been possible without generous partners, donors, sponsors, artists and not least the people who get involved and are passionate about our issues.
We are proud of our Vice Honorary Chair Princess Madeleine who, together with her friends Katarina von Horn, Lovisa de Geer and Lussan Thott, organized this evening for every child's right to a safe upbringing.

Charles Mingo Bennström, press officer for World Childhood Foundation, told to Hänt magazine how Madeleine's role is affected by the move.
"The princess has been active in various roles within Childhood for a long time and has been involved in our work from the USA. The big difference now is that we can enjoy the physical presence of the Princess instead of participation via screen and phone (which has also worked well). In other respects, Princess Madeleine's role as Deputy Honorary Chair of the World Childhood Foundation is unchanged, which means that she leads the organization together with our Honorary Chair H.M. The Queen. Together with the rest of the board, they are responsible for making strategic decisions and developing the organization forward".

When queen Silvia was in Poland last week, the Swedish Embassy held a reception. Queen Silvia got a book:
"Meeting Queen Silvia is always both an honor and a pleasure. I admire her enthusiasm and determination in repairing children's world. She is a true ambassador of the idea of fighting violence against children. I write about it in the chapter dedicated to her in the book #Wielcyprzycieledzieci, which I had the opportunity to hand over to this outstanding Lady of the #OrderoftheSmile today. We also managed to reminisce about the joint Korczak conferences and the visit to Świdnica, which remained in the queen's memory. I promised what I do - to convey my warmest greetings to the Ladies and Knights of the Order of the Smile, with whom Queen Sylwia not only identifies, but whom she sincerely admires."

"We must never take Children's safety for granted"
25 years have passed since H.M. The Queen decided it was time for the world to stop turning a blind eye to the fact that children are being sexually abused. The decision was easy – something had to be done to protect the children. The reaction of the outside world was mixed. Should a Queen really work with something so sensitive? At the same time, a strong network formed behind the Queen. Together they started the World Childhood Foundation...
The answer to the claim that the Queen has an impact is humbly short:
- I do not know. But I'm trying.

With 136 projects in ten countries, Childhood strengthened protection and reduced the risks of sexual abuse against children in 2023.
