Carl XVI Gustaf breaks the record for the number of years on the throne - and the Swedish people give the King top marks.
At the throne jubilee, confidence in the royal house increases.
- The King has been extra visible this year and the publicity has created a positive image of him, says Karin Nelsson, CEO of Demoskop.
New figures from Demoskop show that the Swedish people appreciate the King. A majority of the Swedish people (55 %) have confidence in the royal family. This is an increase of 9 % since April.
The Swedes were also allowed to rate the King. A rating of one means very bad and the highest, a five, means very good.
The King gets top marks, a majority honors the King with a grade of 4 or 5 (58 %).
The Swedes have also been allowed to rank the King's qualities. What people think is most prominent about the King is that he is folksy. 48 % think so. Many also think that the King is responsible (38 %) and the best representative of Sweden (24 %). The King's weakest qualities are clarity and future-oriented.
Even though the Swedes pay tribute to the King, many still want to see Crown Princess Victoria as regent. She is the most popular member of the royal family and 36 % want to see the King abdicate in favor of the crown princess, while 40 % want the king to remain on the throne.

It is nice to see that the Swedish monarchy is growing stronger and is supported by the Swedish people and Swedish politicians. It is also reassuring that the Swedish monarchy appears to have a secure future with Crown Princess Victoria.

Despite trying times recently and a decline in the popularity of royal families in some countries, all extant monarchies in Europe appear to be safe actually.

During the evening's jubilee performance, it became clear that Crown Princess Victoria's wardrobe now does not just belong to herself. For the evening, Princess Estelle had chosen the same green dress from H&M Conscious that Victoria had worn several times before. A complete hit on both of them, and a sure sign that the crown princess's interest in both Swedish fashion and recycling has been passed down.

After the opera performance at Drottningholm Palace Theatre, there was a after-party at the Palace.
While the royals and their guests were enjoying the performance, careful preparations were made. Outdoor torches were lit around the ostentatious fountain at the back of the Palace. A lot of outdoor torches were also lit on the lawns in the shape of the King's monogram.
The two symbols were perfectly visible from the elevated entrance. And they became a real hit with royalty.
Victoria stood with Estelle and appeared to explain the outdoor torch monograms to her. Carl Philip and Madeleine also stopped to take pictures. Madeleine stood with her mother-in-law and Patrick Sommerlath, as she took in the view. King Carl Gustaf looked a little quickly at the outdoor torches, before continuing into the party.
The guests, including the Nordic heads of state with their respective, were able to enjoy a private supper. So it was about a smaller meal and a significantly smaller affair than Friday's anniversary banquet at the Royal Palace
During the evening, the party also got to listen to the Royal Swedish Army Band, which performed the Army's big tapto.

The police have decided on camera surveillance with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) over central parts of Stockholm on September 16 between 14:00 and 16:00.
On Saturday, September 16, an event will be held to celebrate King Carl XVI Gustaf's 50 years on the throne. The event is expected to attract large crowds of spectators from the public as H.M. The King and Queen will travel in a cortege through central Stockholm.
The need for camera surveillance is therefore deemed to exist in order to prevent, prevent or detect disturbances to public order and safety.

She's an adult invested with all the orders. It seems like she could go attend a major ceremonial function in a pinch. If she really can't take the time off from her volunteer work, then that's one thing, but it's sad to see the NRF so underrepresented.

There was a commemorative medal for the King's 40th Jubilee in 2013, so I expect there to be one also on this Jubilee.

On this day 50 years ago, Gustaf VI Adolf, King of Sweden, Göte and Vende, died at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 4 days in Helsingborg's hospital.
The king was succeeded by his grandson, Crown Prince Carl Gustaf, who, with his grandfather's death, ascended the throne as Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden.

Royal Operas anniversary performance at Drottningholms Palace Theater on Lovön outside Stockholm last night.

I hope it will be uniform for the guests who can wear it at the gala dinner. I know it has been stated by the Court thta the dress code is white tie, but it would not be the first time the information isn't 100% accurate.

In that case the collars of the orders could be worn, not very often the King wear the collars of the Swedish orders, other than for portraits.

But, the collar is quite heavy and Queen Margrethe and King Harald are both frail, and might find it too difficult to wear. That might have been the case already in 2010 for Margrethe as she didn't wore it for the wedding. However, the Finnish President Tarja Halonen wore the collar, while the Icelandic President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson didn't wear the collar. The current Icelandic President hasn't yet received the Collar.
