The Crown Princess volunteered at the Stockholm City Mission
On Monday, March 30, the Crown Princess visited Stockholm City Mission on Mariatorget to help make food boxes for people in homelessness and vulnerability.
Every weekday, the Stockholm City Mission's meeting place St Paul distributes food boxes to people in homelessness or financial vulnerability.
Many of the City Mission's volunteers are older and themselves at risk and therefore cannot help the business right now. The Crown Princess therefore went to the City Mission to help.
The food boxes are distributed on site or delivered to people who, due to covid-19, can no longer come to St. Paul.
- I feel like so many others in the community, that I want to do something and then it feels good to be here with you today. It is important that we who have the opportunity try to contribute and help in the ways we can. We can make a difference together, the Crown Princess told the staff at St Paul.
The Crown Princess is a patron for the Stockholm City Mission since 2010.
The royal family and the covid-19 pandemic
The royal family is keen to show their support for the efforts made in different parts of society to fight the covid-19 pandemic.
Through conversations, digital meetings and visits, the royal family informs themselves about how the pandemic affects Sweden.
Visits are planned on the basis of current recommendations and with an effort not to unnecessarily use the time and resources of the operations.

Crown Princess Victoria helped make food boxes
On Monday, March 30, the Crown Princess visited Stockholm City Mission's St Paul business on Mariatorget. The Crown Princess came to help make food boxes for people in homelessness and vulnerability.
It is blowing and snowing outdoors and it is really cold when the Crown Princess comes in through the door in St Paul.
Patron of the Stockholm City Mission
The Crown Princess is the patron of the Stockholm City Mission and wanted to help prepare lunches for the people in homelessness and financial vulnerability who come to St. Paul every day to eat. For the elderly who, due to the risk of infection, can no longer come to St. Paul, food boxes are prepared every day that are picked up by volunteers who then hand them out.
- I feel like so many others in the community that I want to do something and then it feels good to be here with you today. It is important that we who have the opportunity try to contribute and help in the ways we can. We can make a difference together, says the Crown Princess to the staff at St Paul.
Make food boxes in the kitchen
The first thing the Crown Princess and the staff do is to wash their hands properly. Then they start working in the kitchen to make everything ready for 11 o'clock when St Paul opens for those to come and eat.
Until lunch, the Crown Princess helps with most things like dividing the food into boxes, making and serving coffee, packing the boxes to be picked up by the volunteers to be distributed to all the elderly and packing nuts in small bags as the participants who come to St. Paul are going to get. It is important for everyone to keep a distance to reduce the risk of infection and everyone in the kitchen is aware of it when working.
Send with greetings
Everyone who comes to St. Paul today receives small greetings from the Crown Princess couple. The Crown Princess tapes the greeting on each box and also ensures that all boxes distributed to the elderly receive the same greeting.
As the clock approaches 11, one of the Stockholm City Mission volunteers comes in to pick up food boxes to be handed out. The Crown Princess is ready quickly and picks up a bag from the kitchen.
- I have been a volunteer since Vinternatt opened and when I received an email that volunteers were needed for this job I signed up. I had a bike and now I come here every day, pick up boxes and bike with it to the same person, says Katrine Konar and receives the bag from the Crown Princess.
Victoria and Daniel's greeting (nice that Daniel is included at the greeting, although he couldn't be there)
"Today we had the pleasure of packing your meal. Hope it tastes, take care of yourself!"
