Jess, this means that the visit starts November 1 and not Nov 2, correct?
Looks like a busy trip.

According to the article, yes. Which is odd, because the official press release from the royal court said it began on the 2nd. But, given the amount of detail given in the article, I'm inclined to believe it (this isn't the first report ScandAsia has had on the visit).

Billed Bladet has an article talking about the upcoming visit to Vietnam by the Queen, Prince Consort, and CP couple:
Billed-Bladet - Frederik, Mary, Margrethe og Henrik skal på cykeltur

It says that they will ride in a bicycle taxi. This is the first time that the four royals have taken a state visit together. During the visit, the Queen and CP Mary will visit a flag factory, and the Prince Consort and Crown Prince will tour a brewery. They will also attend a party given in their honour. The article says that Prince Henrik is familiar with Vietnam. He lived there as a child, and returned during his student days.

article

Does anyone know when Queen Margrethe II, Prince Henrik, CP Frederik and CPss Mary shall arrive in Vietnam on Sunday, 1st November since their tour begins at 15.40(3.40 p.m.)?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers and Thank you,
EaO.

:flowers:

Thank you, Terri Terri for the information.

Prince Joachim is regent from October 31st, which means that the Queen and CP Frederik are out of the country. So maybe the regent couple and the crown prince couple will arrive in Vietnam on Saturday night?

Yeah they will leave tonight more than likely, it is a long flight to Vietnam. :flowers:

Yes...well over 24 hours I think! So it's a good thing that the Day 1 agenda starts later in the day and only includes the bicycle taxi ride and dinner at the Danish ambassador's residence...gives the royals time to recover from jet lag!

Prince Henrik right into the swing of things with his outfit. Using his cane more and more.

November 1st - Queen Margrethe & Prince Henrik take a cycle tour of Hanoi:

Not 24 Hours i'm afraid more like 13 hours. :flowers:
Time difference is GMT+7 :)
Which is going to make reporting on events some what confusing. :)

Beautiful pictures so far, Prince Henrik looks in his elimant. :p

Im looking forward to seeing the photos posted on this trip. The Royal couples seem like they all get along so well. I would like to know more about why Prince Henrik lived in Vietnam as a child.

Berlingske has an article about Prince Henrik's visit to his childhood home in Vietnam:
Prins Henrik besøgte barndommens gade - Danmark

It says that the house was filled with servants, gardeners, and other typical features found in a house owned by a wealthy family. His family went to Vietnam because of the opportunities in agriculture. They owned coffee and rice plantations. They also owned a newspaper, and a few other businesses not identified in the article. The Monpezat family left Vietnam in 1954 due to the war. They returned to France. The article says that most of their holdings in Vietnam disappeared during the war.

During his visit to his former home, the Prince was very excited to show reporters a pagoda on the property. It was a favorite childhood hangout of the Prince, according to the article.

And Jyllandsposten has an article about the Queen and Prince Henrik's ride on a bicycle taxi. After the visit to the childhood home of Prince Henrik, the couple went to a cathedral, where Prince Henrik put up a plaque in honor of his grandfather, whose grave in Vietnam disappeared during the war. He wanted to put the plaque up in the cathedral as a way to commemorate his grandfather.

The article also says that Crown Prince Frederik was there (doesn't mention whether Mary was there or not), and he told reporters that this has been a great way to experience his father's past.

The Queen looks stunning!. Fredrik and Mary look like they are on vacation, not the first official day of a state visit. I think you can do casual much better.

Thank you all for the beautiful pics! The 2 couples seem to enjoy their walk in Hanoi. I didn't know it is so hot there in November.

My brother was there for 2+ years during the war. He said it is never cool being a tropical climate.

I agree with you! Margrethe looks very good today, relaxed and happy. But a bit too much casual on Mary & Frederik. Looking foward to the next days. :flowers:
