Prince Carl Philip was on the ice in Värmland earlier this week, but not in the way a regular person would. The Prince was test driving a Porsche and a BMW in preparation for this year’s Porsche Carrera Cup.
Carl Philip participated in the Cup last year, and says that he has not set any goals for the race. But, of the ice driving? “It is really useful, and of course, it is also fun. I compete mainly because I think it is fun,” the Prince told reporters. Carl Philip practiced on the ice last year with his father, King Carl XVI Gustaf.

What is it with these Swedish princes and cars? In the 30-ties already the Dutch envoy disapprovingly wrote back to The Hague that these Swedish princess were all very healthy but they could only talk about cars... (when they were looking for a husband for princess Juliana).

So glad to hear he's not hurt! I bet he's shaken up, though -- those sorts of accidents look so terrifying!

a race with the Prince during the Porsche Carrera cup.
The King attended as well in order to support his son.

Thanks a lot for those great pics, iceflower! It's always good to have some recent shots of Carl Philip, especially because I had expected him to be in Vancouver at this time of the year! I wonder whether we'll be seeing him there in a few days?
 
The King, The Queen and Prince Carl Philip are attending the Winter Olympics in Vancouver together from February 18 to February 27.
 
Boris, thanks for the info! I know I read that before, but didn't remember the date correctly and ended up being disappointed at seeing no one from the SRF!

Another comment on the pictures: love that he's got his camera with him!
 
On the weekend Prince Carl Philip was at Gellerasen racing track in
Karlskoga to testdrive for his 3rd season of Porsche Carrera Cup.
He was accompanied by racing legend Janne Flash Nilsson, who
owns the stable Carl Philip competes for, and three fellow drivers.
