Prince Harry’s emotional breakdown seems to reflect a new habit of wearing his “heart” on his sleeve but this is wearing a little thin for stiff upper lip Britons. Kevin Maguire of the Mirror suggested on ITV Good Morning Britain that his speech histrionics was “scripted” and other commentators see the overkill in his celebrity approach to public appearances:

I watched the ceremony LIVE and I chocked up when Harry chocked up in his speech -
I love this moving awards ceremony. The children and their families are faced with so many physical challenges, but they still able to go on and do amazing things.

The British 'stiff upper lip" is just a myth based on what I have seen from the media (and the comments of many in the article posts)...Britons as just as snowflakely as the rest of the world, especially when being called on their own actions.
By breaking down while talking about his own experiences as a new father, he ‘colonised’ the event — he made it about him, rather than the people in the audience.
Suddenly, the spotlight swung away from them and their day-to-day struggles to a man — a member of the Royal Family, no less — who was essentially shedding tears about his own worries.
Surely he could see that his anxieties pale into insignificance when compared with those of the families he was there to meet?
I'm a huge admirer of Harry... but, sorry, those tears were out of place: From the Mail's Mind Doctor MAX PEMBERTON, who has supported the Prince on mental health awareness, a provocative personal view
